Jordan's wife died from an unknown illness. She was consumed by the darkness as her beauty faded away. Donovan the group's counselor is responsible for the group's meetings and discussion topics... London, one of the group members, through her self-exploration discovers that her help comes from within. While Donovan is of no help to the group, as he suffers from his own eternal torture being consumed daily by the pressure of his own pain.... he soon forgets about the one who loves him most, his daughter.

Performed by Juno award-winning musician and composer Ben Brown, the film helps us re-imagine the modern drum solo by using movement to communicate the energy of sound. Filmed in Vancouver, BC’s Downtown eastside the film traces a journey from the streets to the studio. Sounds spill from the drum kit into the streets playing with our perception of noise, disorder and sacred space. The contrast between Vancouver’s raw street energy and the sterile stillness of the studio raises critical questions about how the broader world lives inside us—even in our most private rituals. A mostly improvised performance, this piece seeks to find solace in the unknown by asking not “who loves me?” but: “how do I live with the not knowing?”

Suki Terada Ports is an unstoppable Japanese American NYC elder who has been a tireless activist for the AAPI Community for decades. She has fought for Civil Rights in the 1960s, school integration, prison reform, female healthcare equality, LGBTQ+ rights, HIV/AIDS prevention and support, before the AAPI community would even recognize it. In this film, we follow Suki as she goes from her neighborhood in Harlem where she’s lived for over 87 years to a lunch at her friend’s apartment in downtown. A conversation of action, identity, and belonging emerges between three generations of AAPI activists and storytellers.
